“This was a seminal collection in the work of Kawakubo wherein she challenged the notion of fashionable dress and the perfect, aspirational catwalk body,the collection came to be known as the ‘Lumps and Bumps’ collection.” - V&A Museum

The show went on to inspire Merce Cunningham to use garments from this collection for his show, “Scenario,” which premiered at the Brooklyn Academy later that year.
